Sasquatch Music Festival 2005
So, the Sasquatch music festival is this Saturday, and I finally got a good look at the schedule. Won't be as difficult to navigate as Coachella appeared to be. 26 artists playing on three stages staggered throughout the day. The stages are named Sasquatch, Yeti and Wookie. Now I understand Yeti, it's the northern version of Sasquatch, or Bigfoot. But Wookie? Wookies are a George Lucas creation, I mean come on... they're not real! I'm calling it the Bigfoot stage below, because... well... I'm a realist.
I was hoping I could avoid having to get there too early, as my wife and I will be dropping off baby Eli with my parents, and who knows if there's a discreet place for my wife to... uh... er... pump my baby's sweet nectar.
The Gorge Ampitheater, in George, Washington, is a breathtaking location to experience music and it's always a treat. The weather forecast keeps getting warmer and warmer... 94, is what they're saying now for Saturday.
Here's our tentative plans:
Bloc Party 12:45 - 1:30pm (Sasquatch)
Ray Lamontagne 2:45 - 3:30pm (Sasquatch)
The Arcade Fire 3:45 - 4:30pm (Sasquatch)
Wilco 5:00 - 6:30pm (Sasquatch)
Joanna Newsom 7:30 - 8:30pm (Bigfoot)
Modest Mouse 8:30 -10:00pm (Sasquatch)
The Frames 9:00-10:30pm (Bigfoot)
Pixies 10:30-12pm (Sasquatch)
Probably won't make it through the Pixies, as I saw 'em back in their prime several times and in their current bloated state last September at Bumbershoot.
Eli's going to miss out on Sasquatch, so I made him this lousy onesie.

One potential explanation for the Wookie stage inclusion: in jamband lot parlance 'wookie' has been used to describe a range of hirsute concertgoers with uncertain feelings about soap and/or Jah.
Some illuminating discussion on the subject is in an old Ween message board thread accessible by googling 'wook #17'
I hope the weekend was a big success.
