KEXP played an interesting mix for this Halloween. I only got a small bit on my way to work, but throught the magic of their online playlist, I've reconstructed the bulk of it through Rhapsody. One of the songs was a collective by a group called the NORTH AMERICAN HALLOWEEN PREVENTION INITIATIVE, which I'd forgotten about after hearing it last month.

In an inspired parody of Sir Bob Geldof's 80's aid for Africa song "Do They Know it's Christmas," Vice Records got artists like The Arcade Fire, Beck, Thurston Moore, Wolf Parade, Malcolm McLaren, Devendra Banhart, Rilo Kily, Peaches, comedian David Cross, Roky Erickson(!), and more together to put together this send-up, "Do They Know it's Hallowe'en." The proceeds go to UNICEF, and the message to is to the rest of the world to help North America in ending this ridiculous holiday. A joke really... but it is kind of a silly tradition (don't tell my wife... her favorite holiday.) Listen closely and hear just how much Beck's and Wolf Parade's Dan Boeckner's voices sound similar... it's very eery (perhaps, scary.)
