Released this past Tuesday (still playing 'catch-up' thanks to Blogger tools being down for most of Wed-Thu,) The Criterion Collection edition of Dazed and Confused is reason for celebration, as it has an insightful documentary (Making Haze,) a 72-page book featuring new essays from authors like Chuck Klosterman, interviews, behind-the-scenes footage and footage from the recent 10-year anniversary celebration.
Besides that, watching Richard Linklater's cult classic over (and over) again certainly isn't tedious - from playing "spot the young star" with the cast (Matthew McConaughey, Ben Affleck, Parker Posey to name a few) to the killer 70's rock soundtrack (PLAY IT, tracklisting) Dazed and Confused to the quotable dialogue - repeat viewings are almost necessary.
I remember back in the day ('97?) coming home from work nearly every day and finding my (future) wife prone on the sofa watching D&C for, like, the 100th time. "Alright, alright, alright" I'd say, and dig into whatever munchies she had laid out at the time.
Fun fact: The word "man" is said 185 times in the movie (see, people watch this movie over and over!)
Let me tell you what Melba Toast is packin' right here, alright. We got 4:11 Positrac outback, 750 double pumper, Edelbrock intake, bored over 30, 11 to 1 pop-up pistons, turbo-jet 390 horsepower. We're talkin' some fuckin' muscle.tags: movies, music, soundtrack, dazed and confused, dvd, richard linklater, rhapsody

Holy smokes, is there a species of person who gets paid to manually spread comment spam?
I admit I once met someone who was a self-proclaimed "cable narc", but this has to be a new low of some sort...
In other news, certainly the most life-affirming movie for anyone who's been repeatedly driven away from a water tower party by the Man.
And thank you for the work of putting this list together, my good man.
I marvelled at that as well... wonder if it's effective? I know I clicked on it (to see if it was real.)
