Ear on TV: Week of October 22

Looking for new talk show episodes on this third week in October is like going to the bank on Columbus Day. The 'closed' sign comes as a surprise, and never seems explained enough to my satisfaction. Why exactly do all the talk shows take a break this week every year? Is it just a pre-November sweeps tune-up? Thankfully, it give my DVR a much needed break. One thing I'll still be recording, though, is the rebroadcast of Conan Wednesday night with New Zealand's (and HBO's) Flight Of The Conchords. New Zealand's fourth most popular guitar-based digi-bongo acapella-rap-funk-comedy folk duo appeared on the show a couple days after the premiere of their HBO series, and I inexplicably missed it. So consider this my attempt to correct the error. Now watch (and laugh).
