Music on TV - Week of 06.18.12: Fiona Apple

Fiona Apple, who returns with another extremely long titled release, plays Late Night With Jimmy Fallon on Monday.

Back from her seven year hiatus, Fiona Apple is stepping out of her preferred reclusive state and performing in support of her latest release -- The Idler Wheel is wiser than the Driver of the Screw, and Whipping Cords will serve you more than Ropes will ever do. While the title is nearly the mouthful that When the Pawn Hits... is, the contents are minimalistic, the most stripped down we've ever heard Apple in recordings, which suits her confessional style lyrics just fine.

Elsewhere, Dirty Projectors will appear on Fallon Tuesday night, debuting a song from their forthcoming release, Swing Lo Magellan (due 7/10). Meanwhile, Glen Hansard celebrates his recent Tony win (for the musical Once) with two appearances on Monday -- on The Tonight Show and Tavis Smiley. The Irishman is already halfway to an EGOT!
