The much talked about Bonnaroo Music Festival starts this week, but thankfully I don't have to worry as much about missing out this year. You see, for the first time in the Tennessee event's seven-year history, it will be televised, thanks to a partnership with the upstart music channel Fuse. Kicking off the televised coverage is a "best of" collection, to air Friday night, highlighted by favorite performances from Radiohead (2006) and last year's set from The Roots. Then, Saturday and Sunday nights feature collected performances, interviews and goings on with Metallica, The Raconteurs, and festival veteran (and local fave) My Morning Jacket. While it's not quite like being there, you're eardrums (and your nostrils) may thank you.Elsewhere, retro-soul is the theme for Conan early in the week, with back-to-back nights featuring the blue-eyed soul of James Hunter (Monday), Jamie Lidell (Tuesday), and the classic soul of Sharon Jones & the Dap Kings on Wednesday. Somewhere out there, Berry Gordy must be smiling.
