From the ashes sinks a bottomless pit

Play it: "St. Patrick's Day" Silkworm

When Silkworm drummer Michael Dahlquist was tragically killed last July 14th, the woman who purposely rammed his car also ended the life of the band Silkworm. Since that time, Tim and Andy have mourned, regrouped and formed another outfit called Bottomless Pit, and they play tonight at SXSW.

Tim is playing guitar now, so it's an entirely new rhythm section (Brian Orchard of .22 on bass and Chris Manfrin of Seam on drums.) But with Tim and Andy still writing the songs and singing (and Andy's trademark majestic disjointed guitar leads) it can't fall too far from the 'Worm.

Details:
Fri 17 Mar 2006, 9:00 p.m., SXSW at Club DeVille (Austin, TX)
With Chris Brokaw Rock Band, Antietam, the Sudden Moves, the dBs

(Song above is the original lineup with Joel Phelps singing lead on this track.)

I worked with Michael for years at my old tech job. I still miss him, he was a great guy. I'm glad to hear the guys are making music again. I'm positive he would not have wanted it any other way.
