Ear on TV: Week of Oct. 9

It's a thin week as far as musical appearances go, so this week I'm stretching out and including Nickelodeon's amazing animated seriesThe Backyardigans, as Alicia Keys makes an appearance on an episode entitled "Mission to Mars." Thankfully, her appearance (as a Martian mom) doesn't overshadow the usual stellar music written for the show (all voiced by children.) I know what you're thinking... a children's program? Well, remember watching The Muppet Show back in the day? Even having John Denver guest star made for interesting television. (As I write this, the episode has already aired - 10:30 EST - but it will be repeated on Friday.)

Hey hey, thanks for the nod, el Guapo.

Yes, I'll take the musical stylings of Pablo and crew any day over some of the current toddler show alternatives.

P.U., watch out!
