This past month has seen a large influx of Danish bands releasing albums, and tearing up the stage on SXSW. In March we've seen fine new releases from The Raveonettes, Wolfkin, Under Byen and the most recent, the retro-funsters Snake and Jet's Amazing Bullit Band.
Album: Snake and Jet's Amazing Bullit Band - X-Ray Spirit
Released yesterday on Copenhagen's Crunchy Frog Records, S&JBB's X-Ray Spirit sounds like a collection of great psych-rock nuggets from the late sixties, with the added bonus of a Hammond B3 organ. Danes Thor and Thomas mix The Hives' broken English enthusiasm for good old fashioned Rock and Roll with 'the stage as party' atmosphere of The Go! Team, Bis, or fellow Danes Junior Senior. One listen to songs like "Ten Cities Beyond" and "X-Ray" and you'll understand what I mean when I say X-Ray Spirit is an party waiting to happen -- just press play.
