Since enterting into our conscious via the SNL digital short "Lazy Sunday," the comedy trio The Lonely Island (Andy Samberg, Akiva Schaffer and Jorma Taccone) have been slowly building up an impressive catalogue of musical hilarity. Whether it's rapping with Natalie Portman ("Natalie's Rap,",) or getting the autotune treatment from T-Pain ("I'm on a Boat,") or winning an Emmy with Justin Timberlake for "D*ck in a Box," it was only a matter of time before we'd get an album out of them. Incredibad is remarkable not so much for how funny it is -- because it is -- but how well it sounds. Like Flight of the Conchords and Tenacious D before them, the execution is pretty remarkable.
Now the trio is going to make their network television debut, likely playing "Jizz in my Pants" on Jimmy Fallon on Monday night. It helps having a friendly face in Fallon, from his days at SNL, but one worries that the possibility of having the The Roots as their backup band might just make the trio 'jizz in their pants.'
Meanwhile, fellow autotune user Kanye West will be making an appearance on American Idol Wednesdays, coaching the contestants on how to sing. Wait... Kanye coaching someone on how to sing? Hopefully some of his stage presence will rub off on the crew, but ignore the singing, kids. This is the first American Idol in a long, long time that I'm not going to miss.
