A moonlight mile down the road

Play it: The Sopranos - Ep 6.12

If it weren't for the fact that there are still eight more episodes to come next year, I'd have been throwing things at my tv last night - which I almost did due to some repeated satellite interference (let's just say I've literally got an axe to grind with a tree in my backyard.) The Sopranos Season finale last night didn't so much leave things in the air as just, well... leave things. Those hoping for a cliffhanger, or a war between the NY and NJ crews were surely dissapointed. Moving up The Sopranos Dead Pool list were both Christopher and Phil "The Hairdo." Chris scored points by scoring with Tony's love interest (played by Juliane Marguiles,) and The Hairdo is now slowdancing with the reaper thanks to his failing heart. So what's left to wrap up? Carmelo's still interested in finding what happened to Adrianne; with both Johnny Sack and The Hairdo out, the NY crew is in the hands of loose cannons who've professed a desire to off Tony, and Christopher is mired in a trifecta of things that Tony could take him out for: Using drugs again, spending too much time on movie scripts, and sleeping with the latest target of his affections.

Musically, it's Christmas time (isn't it weird watching holiday eps in the summer?) so we have some holiday classics from Sinatra and Julie London. However, it's The Rolling Stones' "Moonlight Mile" (Sticky Fingers) that sets the tone both for the episode, and as a harbinger of things to come.
The sound of strangers sending nothing to my mind
Just another mad mad day on the road
I am just living to be lying by your side
But I'm just about a moonlight mile on down the road
The conclusion to the series feels like more then a moonlight mile down the road, though...
