Your daily movement #4

From the bowels of the Prog Rock vault comes your movement of the day... Sonic Youth:

Trilogy:
I Wonder, The
II Hyperstation
III Elimination Jr.

Didn't see that one coming, did ya? This is from the great non-prog album Daydream Nation... I threw this curveball in part because it's got the post-punk origins like Mars Volta does with their previous incarnation of At the Drive-In. It also goes to show you, NYC's godfathers of grunge can be just as pretentious as your regular old progger.

Lead singer/guitarist Thurston Moore and guitarist Lee Renaldo both played in Glen Branca's ensemble, a group which has produced many movements themselves.

But ultimately, putting SY in the mix gives me an excuse to post an image of my dog Thurston, who's named after the lanky Moore.

A Chihuahua/Jack Russell/Schitzu mix mutt. That could make him a Chijuackszu, or, if so inclined, a Jackschitahuahua.

Mars Volta and your daily movement #1: Rush
Your daily movement #2: Genesis
Your daily movement #3: Yes
Your daily movement #5: Emerson Lake & Palmer
