Has it really only been a year?

Play it: One Year
Ah, f*ck it
I'm gonna have a party
I had the blankest year
I saw life turn into a T.V. show
It was totally weird

- "Blankest Year" Nada Surf
I just now realized that it's been one year since I started this here blog.

You know the phrase, "it seems like only yesterday?" Well screw that... it's been a looooong year. Maybe that's because so much has happened (and so little of it involving sleep.)

Here's the rundown: Bush won the 2004 election. I met my birth parents. I grew a killer mustache. My little sister died. My boy Eli was born. My grandfather died. All that was just in the first six months. Wow... I suppose it's gone a lot faster since that time (thanks to my wife and child,) but man alive that's a few years worth choked down in a short time.

I started the blog because I was frustrated w/ a lot on my mind and wanted to figure out a way to start writing again. The election, encountering my birth family, the impending death of my sister, and the expecting of a child... all these things weighed heavily on my mind at the time, and it's interesting to look back and see just how little I've written about all of them now.

Oh well... you can only pick a scab for so long (then you gotta get drunk.)

So f*ck it, I'm gonna have a party.

Congrats! We are all so glad you stuck around and slogged through the rough / joyous year you had! Especailly when many blogs have sputtered out or have slowed down to a faint trickle. I have to admit you're my favorite blog, sorry everyone else. If I can ever do this full time, you're my first hire! (Or vice versa I hope)

I must say that I'm also glad you ended up going heavy on the music and pop culture and light on the politics. Politics suck, they piss me off and I'm over it. Good people turned into real assholes on both sides during the presidential election. So screw it and turn on some good music;enjoy life. I am looking forward to the next year.

My favorite Drake pieces?

You have invented the Rssbld Sndtrck. Great. Great. Great! I'm gonna archive them. I especially like including ALL the songs that appear in a film and not just the official release tracks. very cool. Excellent content and a truly valuable service to music fans.

Your novel soundtracks. Love em', want to see more.

Your album features. I love your focus and taste. My favorites are always stuff you recommend.

And finally your personal musings. Giving us glimpses into your personal life keeps us closer. It's better than the TV shows you write about.

Thanks again for a great year.

[blush]Ahh...thanks

I don't know that this blog aspires to much (ie, being a full-time thing) but consider the job thing to be reciprocated.
