Crouching Turtle, hidden Drama

Entourage Ep. 14

This week's soundtrack has some fun references to recent Hong Kong movies (Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon and House of Flying Daggers.)

To help with the economic situation, Turtle's gearing up for an EA Sports/XBox tournament (Fight Night Round 2,) which has a $10,000 prize. E's not answering Emily's calls while he tries to find a way to get a print of Queens to James Cameron, and sets up a meeting with the bucks behind the movie, Wicks, but not even he can get a print of his own movie. Ari calls in his minions to brainstorm about getting work for Vince. One suggests television (Ari: "Just get the fuck out...right now, I'm not kidding") and another (Drama's agent wonderboy) has something that Tobey (Maguire) has backed out of featuring the hot new Hong Kong director, Chang Chung. Ari tells E and Vince about it, but Vince doesn't want to do another commercial ("I started with Mentos and I don't want to go back." - inside joke? I think perhaps Adrian Grenier did a mentos commercial back in the day.) Ari tells them that it pays a half-mill for one day's work (Ari: "Chang Chung? More like cha-ching!") Adrian and E say shie de (yes.) The gang meets with Chang Chung (who's translator is played by the Orbit gum actress, Vanessa Branch - "Fabulous!") and love his concept, which, like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, is inspired by A Chinese Ghost Story. Not only do they like the story, the money, but Vince also likes the stunt coordinator, played by the beautiful Bai Ling. Drama makes reference to his karate skills saying he was friends with Brandon Lee and was in The Crow (which is an inside joke as Bai Lin was actually in the movie.) Meanwhile, Vince and Drama have conviced Turtle that there's drug-testing at this year's tournament and he goes over to Roy Jones, Jr's house to get some clean urine, and to whoop his ass at Fight Night Round 2. Vince and Drama go to a session with Bai Ling, and Drama, wearing his yellow belt, gets beat up again and heads to the showers. Bai Ling then gives Vince a tumble, showing him some moves that won't appear in the commercial. The gang arrives at the EA Sports Fight Night Round 2 (is it me, or does this start to sound like an infomercial for said video game product)/X-Box championship and find out Turtle's playing a 10-year old in the first round. Michael Buffer ("Let's Get Ready to Rummmmmmmmble!") announces them and Turtle tries to trash talk but is knocked out before he can finish a sentence. E and Vince run into Ari and he tells them that Sharon Stone is in line to play Aquaman's mom and that she talked up Vince to Cameron so he's agreed to go to Sundance to see Queens. Hooorah's all around. Then we get to see the commercial, which is both fun and quite cheesey, complete with a small-bit for hidden Drama-son.
